Evening all, and a Happy New Year to everyone ;0).
That's Christmas done and dusted, lovely time as always, and having Christmas dinner on Sunday and cold on Christmas day (girls went to their dads on Boxing day) worked well, no Sherry cum Turkey disaster combo, slippery customers them there Turkeys after a sherry or two or three! Just had a vision of a turkey sipping sherry, bizarre!
And what about the Snowman and his dog?! didn't you just know he was going to start melting when he curled up in front of the fire, but ahhh, loverly ending.
Talking of fires, next project, managed to get a cast iron fire setting from Chris in Cowes, for £30, bargain, it was (arms stretched out) about yay big, Chris had a tape measure, which he used to check the width of my Suzuki boot, oh ye of little faith, it was going in no matter what, I've had bigger things in my boot than that, single beds, kitchen counters, you name it, and I'll try my damnedest to get it in. There is going to have to be a couple of tweaks to my fireplace before I can actually fit it in place though, as Alan said, "it's too big", nothing that can't be sorted.
501 days to go, and today I received my walking boots, thank you ex Mother in Law, I know I will most probably need another pair before I go, but tis exciting, my first proper pair of walking boots, I look the part from the ankle down!
Managed to do one cupboard kickback one more to go, and put up a shelf, which kept falling down off its prop, will leave the other kickback till next year, as I am babysitting the grand kids tonight, my wine will have to wait till 2013, not long 6 hours ish.
Well, A Happy and healthy New Year to you and yours, here's to 2013xx Janetx

Day? - 520
Well, Christmas decs up and they look loverly, even though I say so myself!
Just spent the last two hours browsing ebay, and not achieved a thing, then I couldn't find the blog to sign in, but as you can see I'm here now, 'hello', wish I knew what I was doing on this dang computor thing, my sister Hazel told me to play with it, she also said I couldn't break it....... give me time!
I will attempt to get the Marie Curie giving page up and running as soon as possible, still haven't touched base with the local fund raising lady, but have lots of ideas swishing about in my head!
My next diy project is to make some kick boards for the kitchen cupboards, now, it won't matter how wonky I cut them, as the only way you will ever know the edges are wonky is if you lay on my kitchen floor, and I know half my mates are not going to do that coz they would never get up again! ;0)
Ehh, thought I had found my blog, now I have

Day 4, went to put the now not wonky box shelf thing into the cupboard, and guess what, it wouldn't fit! after a few expletives, I left it and took the dog for a walk.
Took in two hills, but still managed to get back in half an hour, need to extend the walk, or slow the dog down, not sure which.
Did miss my walking buddy though, time just passes when your with someone, heyho, working the next two evenings, so no time for long walks, will have to make up for it on the weekend.
Got home and re-assessed the non wonky box shelf thingy and realised there was two planks of wood which needed moving out of the way, hey presto, it now fits lovely, and the two bottles of red fit perfectly!
Got my reply from the phone company that I was hoping would sponsor me, it was a negative as they have so many people (12,000 apparently) asking. Will have to wait untill the xmas offers come out to sort new phone that I can get apps on!!
Should I tell you about my on-line dating?
Nah!, time for bed.

Day 3, still thinking about doing a count down...
The box is wonky no more! with a little help from my friend it has been sorted, but I think the drill has been over used, dying a death, with some very strange smells and whining sounds going on.
shorter walk tonight, the dog was not impressed with the rain, but should be all right for tomorrow night, if I can trust the weather forecast hmmm!
Have been a bit cheeky with my phone provider, watch this space to see how it turns out, I've got my fingers crossed ;0)

Day 2, or I might start a count down. not sure yet.
Doing this in bold, as I can't read my first blog!
Feeling pretty good after my first day of training, even managed to find a cd of 30 minutes of stretch and tone, might give that a go.
Well, got back from one job about to get ready for the next one, when Tony comes to do a bit of under coating, all well and good, then the grandkids appear with Mum and Dad, and as the computer is in the bedroom I wanted them to see my first blog as I didn't feel I had done it right, sure enough, I'd set up a gmail account, not a blog.
Paul sorted it for me, then the door got shut, we were locked in! (another story) well luckily because of my diy prowess I usually have the odd screwdriver or set of alan keys hanging around, and Paul got us out, Tony hadn't heard the commotion, but he had finished his painting.
Still had to get ready for work, put the kitchen light on which promptly blew, knocking out all the upstairs lights plus the computer, radio alarm etc, reset the fuse thingy.
kids come down ready to go and yeah!, an 18 month and four year old are irresistibly drawn to wet paint, luckily it was water based, so I managed to get it off of Maisie's coat.
Well the box has been staring at me in a belligerent way, I will not be defeated, but it will have to wait until I get the time.

Day 1, going to be walking the Great Wall of China, May 2014 in memory of Mum and Dad, for Marie Curie Cancer Care, http://www.mariecurie.org.uk the nurses do amazing work with people in their last days or months.
And so starts the training! I have a couple of stones to lose, so will be updating on my fitness as we go.
But first I have to build this box! I've been trying for the past 3 days, I've screwed in and had to screw out as the screws have a mind of their own, Alan made the first one look so easy. I tried following his box template, then the red wine took hold, and I realised my squares are smaller than his and then the battery ran out on the drill thingy due to all the screwing in and out, so I gave up and carried on with the wine. I will take a piccy, but I can't use my phone (will save that story for another day), so you will just have to imagine this wonky box, well actually it's supposed to be a little shelf unit, with more holes than a colander and gaps, why when I screw it together does it not join up? no amount of pushing helps!
If I am to conquer the Great Wall, I must conquer the box first,
Right going for my first training walk, dogs not going to know what's hit her. bless. Janetx
